What A Typical Sunday Looks Like For Me As A Working Mom
On Sundays, time is of the essence. I don’t have the time to spend an entire day on a reset, so I break cleaning into a weekly schedule so that the most important tasks get done on Sunday, and every other day of the week, I dedicate my time to a specific room in the house.
Sunday Morning
I start my day by making a big breakfast for the family and try to clean as I go to keep the mess at bay. We also use this time to spend time with the kids and watch a show together as a family.
From there, I will add a load of laundry to the washing machine and start cleaning our kids’ bedrooms and bathrooms.
I will also vacuum and mop the floors before planning our week and heading to the store to pick up groceries.
As a work-from-home mom, my meeting schedule varies from week to week, so I like to use my Sundays to note important meetings where I may need my husband’s help with our toddler. I’ll discuss when I may need his help so that he can also make arrangements at work, and I’ll add any appointments for myself or the kids to our family calendar.
We’ve also recently added an acrylic calendar to the fridge for monthly & weekly planning because nothing beats seeing your weekly plans without having to check your phone.
Sunday Afternoon
Now that our house is clean, we usually make the kids a quick lunch or grab a bite on the way to the grocery store.
We also reserve our Sunday afternoons for some family fun. We’ll load the kids in our wagon and go on a family walk for fresh air and to let the kids burn off some energy at park!
The rest of my Sunday is spent with my family and having fun to prevent the Sunday Scaries from coming on!
Tips For Creating A Sunday Reset Routine As A Working Mom That Works For You
- Identify Tasks That Need To Be Completed For The Day
It’s important to write out all the tasks you want to complete for the day. I prefer to split my tasks into 4 categories: Cleaning, Family, Planning and Self-Care.
- Reflect On Previous Week
One thing corporate has instilled in me is reflecting on the previous week and jot down some lessons learned. Use the following 3 questions to help with reflection:
- What Went Well
- What Could I Do Different
- What Support Do I Need to Make This Week Successful
- Plan Upcoming Week
As a working mom, your Sunday reset will not be complete without planning your week ahead. Use this planning session to ensure that you’re prepared for any doctor’s appointments, birthday parties, and important meetings ahead of time so that you don’t feel rushed.
- Clean House
Starting the week with a clean house has been the most life-changing thing I did for myself, aside from establishing my morning routine. As you can see, I’m big on routines and my life would probably fall apart without them lol.
